Conjugations & Spiritual Gifts

I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks! I wouldn’t say the MTC is fun, but I think I’m doing pretty well here. Focusing can be difficult, there have been many times where I really struggled to stay awake. My teachers are pretty sweet. Sis. Lewis is great. She teaches only in Portuguese, no English at all which I like because it forces me to learn new words. Bro. Lemperle is great too. He talks in english sometimes so that we understand everything that is being taught. The sisters in our district think he’s really attractive. He’s very animated which makes class fun. I told you earlier that he sings with Vocal Point which is pretty cool.

I think I hit a bit of a wall this week. We’re really getting into conjugations and tenses now; and that is the worst part of learning any language; because you have to memorize so much. But I promise to work super hard to learn it to the best of my ability. I’ve been really surprised at how much I’ve been able to learn so far.

Coming here has really made me aware of how unique I am. I kind of broke down with my companion; because even though I love everyone and they all love me, it doesn’t change the fact that I am very different than all of them. The things I care about are not necessarily what everyone else cares about. Also, I’ve just become aware at how deep and pensive I am. I always knew I was, but it’s just so apparent that this is one of my most important spiritual gifts. I think Heavenly Father has special plans for me in this regard.

We’ve had some pretty great devotionals and lessons. In relief society, a sister talked about our power as sister missionaries and sisters in the gospel. She mentioned how in our church, more education = more devotion; where in others there is a negative correlation for each. I really appreciated this comment.

Things are going really well overall:) Eating healthily can be a challenge though. There aren’t very many healthy options and even though I’m exercising everyday eating as many vegetables as I can, drinking water, and not eating too much sugar, I’m still gaining weight. But I think the lord will bless me so I won’t worry. We’ll see how it goes when I get to Portugal:)

Sounds like the girls are staying busy.
Tell Everyone I love them.
